What I hope to gain from this camp is two fold. Firstly, I hope to gain a greater understanding of the real world that awaits me after high school. This is my senior year and I've spent my entire life home-schooled in a Christian home with no real experience of the craziness of the outside world. I don't want to graduate from high school, meet the first opposition to my faith, and crumble under the pressure. I want to have the ability to handle tough challenges and stay strong under fire. I also want to know how to speak the truth gracefully, without attacking or arguing. Basically, I want a solid foundation upon which I'm able to stand when I go out on my own.

Secondly, I'm seeking a greater relationship with God. Only recently have I realized that my relationship with my Creator was less than ideal. Nearly my whole life I've been just kind of floating by, not worrying about anything, not thinking about anything, not asking anything. I went to church, I read my Bible, but I never understood the concept of being a true follower of Christ. This is something that I've been trying to change, and I'm hoping this camp will help me get there.

ABOUT Base Camp 2016 & Fundraising

Base Camp costs about $800 per student. Faith Ascent's donors and corporate sponsors already covered half of these costs. Thank you for making a tax deductible donation towards the remaining half!

Base Camp is 5 days and 4 nights of strategic preparation for the challenges and opportunities college bound Christians will be presented with. In a real college environment our expert teaching team will answer the tough questions Christian teens are asking (and being asked). Questions including but not limited to:

- Is all truth relative? What about moral or religious "truths"?
- Does science contradict or compliment Christianity's creation account?
- Are our Bible's reliable and accurately copied? How do we know?
- Were the Biblical authors telling the truth? How do we know?
- Was the resurrection a real historical event? How do we know?
- Was the Jesus messiah narrative plagiarized from earlier pagan myths?
- What exactly is the Christian gospel? What are false gospels?
- Are Christian sexual ethics outdated and bigoted? (Hint: NO!)
- What do people of other religious faiths actually believe?
- What do agnostics and atheists actually believe?
- What does evangelism and witnessing look like in a post-Christian culture?
